Bound in evergreen cloth, vignette in gilt on the front cover of man with backpack walking past a setting sun surrounded by words "From Sea to Sea" with same design blind-embossed on back board, blind-embossed wide ruled border on both boards, gilt lettering on the spine, tissue-guarded frontispiece of man and dog in front of log cabin ("The Piney Woods Cabin at Night"), illustrator(s) not named (Illus. by True Williams), the title page states "Illustrated by Numerous Engravings", 29 are included in "List of Illustrations" preceding the Contents list, has a 30th illustration at the very end of the text looking west through the Golden Gate with the sun setting. Volume includes one-page publisher's ad at the rear; octavo size (just under 8" tall), pagination: (i)-xvi, (17)-327, blank (328), publisher's ad (329).
