Abstract

As the 21st Century presses on, demand for the inclusion of technology in all
aspects of the music curriculum will likely increase. Given the state of today’s
society being technologically focused—visually and aurally—we, as music
educators, must find ways to bring high-quality concert performances into the same
frame of mind as our audience members.
It is the hope of the researcher that this paper will become a guide, or at least
an inspiration, for the inclusion of technology in a concert setting. Throughout the
method section, a description on how to mount a visual concert experience will be
provided, including a brief discussion on copyright considerations and the visual
concert experience as a vehicle for music advocacy. A visual concert experience is a
concert that contains both auditory and visual media. This paper does not attempt to
suggest that all concerts presented in a school setting should involve multimedia,
but rather to give an additional option for a unique concert format that could be
presented in an annual event.… (más)
