IDW's first limited Godzilla comic is wrote by John Layman and illustrated by Alberto Ponticelli in 5 volumes. This series ran from June to October in 2011. It's about a detective Makoto Sato who is framed for a murder of his own partner. Later, he escapes to Monster Island when he is about be disposed by a bunch of dudes that hate him or something. I don't really know. There he encounters Godzilla and and the people that were going to kill, run away. BABIES. There he meets servants of Mothra, including the Elias. Then he takes the Elias to destroy the Takahashi syndicate in Tokyo with Mothra but would lead into ultimate, destructive and devastating consequences for the city. It's very mature and interesting comic. You your a fan of Godzilla and it's IDW comics, then it's the book for you. Besides, it's Godzilla. THE KING OF MONSTERS. YEAH.… (más)

This is one of the best comics I have ever picked up. It has great art, but that's the least of its merits. What matters here is that unlike most comics, which tend to revolve around the fantastical, letting people indulge in a bit of escapism, Dysart has instead given us a glimpse into the real horrors that have gone on in Uganda and surrounding areas for several decades, largely unnoticed by the rest of the world. It's powerful, very very informative, and he manages to inform us of these atrocities with a wonderfully written and illustrated story. Simply wonderful.… (más)

This series is fabulous. As a typical American, I knew next to nothing at all about the situation that is the backdrop for Dysart's impressive undertaking. I knew there was war in Africa, but my knowledge of it was pretty limited to stuff going on with Zaire/DRC, Rwanda, and the Lost Boys of Sudan. Unfortunately all this war just does not reach the ears of the average American, and I was no exception.

But aside from creating an engaging story that makes the reader deal with many questions about morality, and right vs wrong vs gray areas, Dysart has provided pages of background information on what has been happening over there, and where his work fits into the middle of it. This comic is a huge wake-up call, wrapped up in fabulous artwork and storytelling. Highly recommended to all.… (más)
