Lonely Planet tiene 1 un evento pasado. (show) Sustainable Travel Around the World -- A Discussion with Travel Writer Greg Benchwick Greg Benchwick, author of Lonely Planet Colorado and Great Adventures, will show us how to travel sustainably on Wednesday, July 23rd at 7:30pm. About the Presentation: Travel is a good thing. It builds cultural interchange, expands horizons and furthers our worldview. There is so much to gain from packing your bags, hopping on a plane and flying off to brave new worlds. But with more and more people taking to the skies to explore our little blue planet, the implications of traveling far and wide become greater everyday. Planes pollute, languages die, cultures assimilate, traditions are lost.
So how do we travel right in the 21st Century? Acclaimed travel writer Greg Benchwick explores the issues, looking at environmental, cultural and economic concerns in this inclusive discussion informed by his 15 years writing about travel for people like Lonely Planet and National Geographic Traveler and working as a communications officer with the United Nations. Along the way, Greg will share stories, slideshows and videos from his travels across the globe.
Vouchers to attend are $5 and are good for $5 off the author’s featured books or a purchase the day of the event. Vouchers can be purchased in advance, over the phone, or at the door. Readers Guild Members can reserve seats for any in-store event.
