Again for the First Time is a story about finding love again ... but not in the way you'd expect.

Luke meets Lissette and his first words to her are "Marry me." And she agrees. That's the premise of the story and it sets us up for an unconventional, yet compelling, love story. Luke has two brothers, Nick and Matt. Nick is weeks from getting married. Luke is single. Matt is a movie maker and has an idea to document 2 marriages. The first would be for a couple like Nick and his fiance, who have known each other for years. The second would be for a couple who know nothing about each other. In other words, he wants his brother Luke to propose to a total stranger and allow him to document the marriage. Only a promised pay day to the debt ridden Luke causes him to agree. Luke, however, doesn't believe any woman would be crazy enough to say yes. Until Lissette does. After that, we see this couple deal with being married to a person they know nothing about.

I really enjoyed this story. Because while the premise is so outrageous and unrealistic, and while there is seemingly everything against them, there are other forces at work that make this pair inevitable. I really liked both characters and it was hard not to root for their happiness.

I really liked Matt and Brooklyn’s story. All the books in this series are marked as “standalone” but they really should be read in order. In book 1, the main couple was Luke and Lissette. But we see how Luke’s brother Matt meets and pretty much falls instantly in love with Lissette’s sister Brooklyn. Matt and Brook are the main couple in book 2. In book 1, we also meet Luke’s other brother Nick and see the start to his troubles that are a big part of book 2 as well. And finally, all books contain bits and pieces of the overarching mystery of the past.

This book wasn’t quite as good as the first book in my opinion. The biggest bit of drama was getting Brooklyn to admit to herself what everyone else already knew - that she’s was in love with Matt. But watching them go from friends to lovers was a sweet process. Matt was so patient with her. He was such a great character. There was a pretty big shocker in this. I really didn’t expect it to happen, but was glad for the plot twist. A good read. One of the best interracial books I’ve read.

Very good ending to this series. I honestly don’t really know what to say about it! This is Book 3 of the Again for the First Time series. Book 1 starts with Luke and Lissette marrying. As it turns it, Luke’s grandfather and Lissette’s grandmother (also named Lissette) were also in love but were urged by her mother to not be together. Enter Luke’s brother Matt. He falls in love with and marries Young Lissette’s sister, Brooklyn. Matt is a filmmaker and takes interest in the decades old failed romance. He digs further into the history of the family and discovers an even older love story of Grandmother Lissette’s aunt, Quinn Dixon. Quinn loves a white man. In 1940s Alabama. Needless to say, things weren’t easy for them. This book is their story. It was heartbreaking. It was heart wrenching. But it was beautiful. I loved it and this series.… (más)

This is a really unusual book. I really liked it, the scenario is ridiculous but if you go with it, it works.
I found the beginning really really funny, and when it deals with some emotional scenes later on its quite touching.
A good read.
