This colourful picture book features a version of the familiar number-pattern song "The Ants Go Marching" as well as a series of visual quests to locate one particular ant. Each double-page spread displays a large numeral, a like number of ants, and a strikingly illustrated, cutaway view of mazelike ant trails beneath the ground. Somewhere in that maze, among the rocks, roots, grubs, and lost buttons, ants engage in unlikely activities such as attending a "Beetles" concert or occupying a Victorian house, all shown in vertical cross sections.
