Biografía breve
Coles Phillips (1880-1927) Started amazing cover illustrations in Life magazine of the early 20th century. Focusing mostly on his unique and original technique of "fading away" womens clothing and objects into a solid colored background. this started in May 1908.

Unfortunately He was diagnosed with tuberculosis of the kidneys at the young age of 44 (1924). His creative output was reduced tremendously by his diagnosis and failing eye sight. His illness would soon take his life in just three years by June of 1927.

In 1975 Michael Schau published a nice (hard to find) book
"All-American Girl" Watson-Guptill Publications.

Inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame in 1993.

In 2000 the United States Post Office released: Classic Collections "American Illustrators" 34 cent postage stamps. Showing 20 famous American Illustrators including Coles Phillips (Scott 3502e) shown in photos.

Second and last published book by C. Phillips. Very hard to find in any condition. Book does have DJ but is very seldom seen.
Also hard to find comlete with the 19 colour plates as they usually have been removed for independent framing.

Very hard to find and rare book by Coles Phillips. 39 stunning full page color plates, and 28 cameo b&w drawings. Original edition has a clamshell box with the same cover as the hardcover book. A not so good condition copy could run low $400 or more.
