As the mother of four children who are ages 23, 21, 19, and 17, becoming a grandparent is possible in future. As I watch various family members and friends become grandparents, I recognize the importance of grandparents in their grandchildren’s lives. A number of years ago my mother moved in with us, and the relationships she has with our children is incredible. So I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review this book.

I appreciate having the opportunity to read this book in order to prepare to be a grandparent. The author does an excellent job providing ways to keep Scriptures central to prayers and be intentional as a grandparent. Practical tools are provided to help you pray for your grandchildren. It illustrates the straightforward necessity to pray for our grandchildren. We live in a time where Spiritual warfare is prevalent, and grandparents need to storm the gates of Heaven with prayers both for their children and grandchildren.

So whether you are currently a grandparent or have children in your life who are like grandchildren, you should read this book.

Grandparents are very important in a child's life and children certainly benefit if their grandparents are Godly people. In this revised and expanded editon of Grandparenting with a Purpose. author Lillian Penner offers many suggestions for Christian believers who are devoted to praying for their grandchildren. There are many examples of different prayers for grandchildren in various stages of life and she also shares prayers for grandparents themselves. With an abundance of Bible scripture and a Study Guide with questions at the end of each chapter, I can certainly recommend this book for both personal use or in a group study.

I am so excited to read this book knowing that in June my husband and I will be first time grandparents. We are over the moon and are thankful that He answered our prayers. Grandparents are very special and in this book the author has provided biblical principles to help us pray for our grandchildren. I love how the author says we are living in the now generation. It is time to make a difference and instill Godly values over our children and grandchildren.
I remember my grandmother taking me to church when I was little. I would spend a few weeks with her in the summer. She would dress me up in pretty dresses and off we would go to church. My grandmother was a school teacher, Sunday school teacher and worked in the office at church. During my time with her I really saw how dedicated she was to God. As I reflect back on my grandmother , I realize how much she impacted my life. I’m thankful for her prayers and her example of a Godly woman.
I like the idea of leaving a journal for our children and grandchildren. In it I want to include Bible scriptures, prayers , and have a section for each child. As they pass the journal on, their heritage will show Christian values , parents and grandparents that were warriors for them. Recently in the news, we are hearing more and more children are being raised by grandparents. It is a big responsibility and it gives them an opportunity to show the grandchildren that they are loved by them and God.
At the end of each chapter are questions to use as a personal study. There are also prayers and examples from the Bible that are good role models that exercised how grand-parenting is. I enjoyed reading the book and getting information that will help as we pray for our grandchildren.

I am over-the-moon excited about becoming a grandparent in just a few short months, so when this book entered my path I felt it was with divine purpose. I know how integral my own grandmother was in my spiritual life and I will do my best to help my grandchild/children navigate their spiritual lives too.

I remember how my grandmother set aside time every morning and night spending time with God and that made such an impact on me. She prayed in private, she prayed over meals, and she let me know she prayed for me. She showed me, in countless ways, the importance of talking to the Lord as if he is sitting there with us. Oh, how I want to guide, pray for, and love my grandchildren with as special a love.

I prayed for my grandchild long before he was conceived, and I pray for him as God readies him for his path in life. Grandparenting with a Purpose inspires and encourages me to continue to pray for God’s precious child.
