Two plays about the trials of being mixed race. The plays are minimalist, which works extremely well for this playwright, who clearly knows how to use dialogue to create a mood, an image, without needing a lot of extra characters or fancy sets to get the idea across. The stark, harsh nature of the dialogue actually enhances the sense of poetry. It makes the plays more difficult to read, however, so would not recommend them for people who are beginning play readers.
