Two Ph.D. psychologists provide a useful guide through "family grief" resulting from a terminal diagnosis. They point out that our experience has changed significantly from the Kubler-Ross "five stages" model was developed in 1969. Medical advancements mean that "death has changed from an event to a process", and it is a process that can go on for months or even years.
