Britannia Volume the First Or, An Illustration Of… por John Ogilby
A glorious full-colour 1930s reproduction of Ogilby's ingenious road maps. These strip maps of the routes between all the major settlements of England and Wales were importnat precursors of modern UK mapping. Ogilby formalised the standard mile and the 1-inch-to1-mile scale adopted by the Ordnance Survey. His dedication to King Charles is almost opaque in its floridity but there is a fascinating description of his surveying techniques in the rest of the foreword.
