Mette Odderskov

It seems that year after year Denmark is ranked in the Top 10 as having the happiest people in the world. So Danish author Mette Odderskov set out to share some of this happiness with us.

What is happiness? We all seek it, but just what is happiness? Since the definition of happiness changes as we mature, Odderskov gathered responses from Danes of varying ages on their views of happiness. She then divided the responses into decades 0 – 100 so we can trace what happiness is throughout a life span. Then at the end of each decade she inserted “words of wisdom” from a 92-year-old lady.

The book is sure to bring back memories from earlier times and to put a smile on your face. It is a reminder that we often forget the simple things in life that brought us happiness. “Happiness is…playing with my friend Carla…when I see the joy in other people’s eyes…a healthy and good life surrounded by people who matter to me…feeling you are valuable to others.”
