I use book pages on my own art, but it still took a small mental push to embrace the notion of turning whole books -- or parts thereof -- into shelves, lamp-stands, or mobiles. Once over this silly squeamishness, I enjoyed the clever creative projects and detailed how-to illustrations. Gonna try a few for sure.

The Repurposed Library: 33 Craft Projects That Give… por Lisa Occhipinti

Good introduction to how to use old books to decorate a space. Good inspiration, my kids are using discarded libarry books for projects, from carving up secret hiding spaces in old books to using book pages for origami and decoupage. Cristmas decorations with book discards is a good idea, too.

Pros-Spurred on my creative drive
-had quite a few awesome projects
- laid out well
-easy to follow instructions
Cons-More then a few projects encourage the destruction of antique books
-most crafts involve completely destroying books

Most of the knocks on this How to/DIY are kinda of unavoidable. I would always prefer Not to pull apart something that is out of print, But then again I am one of those folks that tends to fetishize the written word. Still a very cool instructable though
