Mindy Obenhaus

The Deputy's Holiday Family is by far the best book of the series. I loved seeing relationships healing and the damage from the past fixed. The characters were delightful and the story transports you into the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Kenzie is such a fun character with all of her antics and leading people to Christ. (I mean, she is very young!) Seeing her interactions with the other characters added a lighter mood to the book in the midst of all the struggles that the adults were going through.

The author carefully weaved together the relationship between Lacie and Matt to form a perfectly crafted story.

This book was certainly interesting but overall a bit slow. Maybe it just was not for me but I did not enjoy it nor did I dislike it. I enjoyed the previous books of the series more than this one. It fell flat at times although the writing was engaging.
The main part of the plot that I noticed was Lily's fear of horses and how she attempts to overcome it. I think her fear was represented in a realistic manner most of the times, but Lily could be a little dramatic about horses.
I don't have much to say about this book.

Despite the fact that I did not love "Her Colorado Cowboy", this book was really good. It was super cute. The characters interacted in a realistic way that drew me in. Megan was fun to read about with all of her antics.
I was a bit surprised about how little time was spent restoring the Carly's B&B. Carly spends most of her time over at Andrew's family's ranch caring for foals and Andrew's sick father, Clint. Clint was such a handful and quite the character. I had to laugh at some of the things he did to push Andrew and Carly together.
Andrew and Carly were both carrying some heavy baggage that prevented them from living life to the fullest and it was nice to see them both overcome it.
