Good book. Deirdre is an FBI agent on forced vacation after breaking too many rules during an investigation. So she steps in, on her own time, to help her New York cousins in their search for a suspected "Black Widow" serial killer. The story opens as she arrives in Wyoming to talk to Micah about his former stepmother, who may be the woman the other Coltons are looking for.

Micah is a single dad with his hands full, raising his son and working his ranch. He also has problems with escalating sabotage on his property. Despite multiple visits from the police, no one has been able to catch the perpetrator. Though he's always believed his stepmother murdered his father, he has no interest in revisiting that part of the past.

Deirdre is a city girl, through and through, as is shown by her reaction to Wyoming's wide-open spaces. She can't wait to interview Micah and catch the next plane back to DC. Fate has other plans for her. She arrives as Micah is dealing with another episode of vandalism and is in no mood to cooperate with her. When the sheriff comes to take Micah's report, he's interested in Deirdre's presence, especially when he learns of her "vacation." It doesn't take long for him to coerce - umm, convince - her to help his short-handed department with Micah's problem. Micah agrees to answer her questions if she helps him. Neither expects the sparks of attraction that flare between them.

I enjoyed the combination of suspense and romance. Deirdre and Micah spend a lot of time together looking for leads to the vandal and working on the ranch. Seeing Deirdre's growing appreciation for the peace of Wyoming and life on the ranch was fun. I liked seeing her and Micah develop enough mutual trust to share the more painful parts of their pasts and grow closer. I also enjoyed seeing the quick connection between Micah's son, Derek, and his "Dee-Dee."

When the latest intrusion at the ranch threatens Derek, Deirdre suggests they all fly to New York for a few days to keep him safe and give the sheriff and his deputies a chance to catch the perpetrator. This will also allow Micah to see if any sites jog his memory about his stepmother. There are meetings with the New York Coltons as they try to get closer to finding their quarry. A lucky memory brings hope and action, but mistakes also bring heartache and disappointment.

A return to Wyoming brings them face-to-face with Micah's tormentor. The intensity of the confrontation kept me glued to the pages until it was over. I wasn't surprised by the identity of the perpetrator. Meanwhile, Micah and Deirdre's relationship hits some bumps in their road to happiness. Neither can let go of the fears that keep them from giving in to their love. It takes some well-meaning interference from Deirdre's brother, Aidan, to set up an emotional reunion between them. I liked the ending and look forward to the next book.

The overarching series mystery of Humphrey's disappearance is partially solved in this book, but another part will continue in the next book.

Terrific combination of romance and suspense. Kayla and Jasper have a complicated relationship. She works for him on the ranch he owns with his sister. She was hired after her family's ranch was foreclosed on due to her father being sent to prison, and Jasper's father was the judge who did it. Kayla maintains that her dad was innocent, especially as Judge Colton was later found to be corrupt. Kayla harbors a deep resentment toward the Coltons because of it, while Jasper feels guilty because of his father's actions.

Matters become complicated when Kayla begins receiving threatening texts. Those texts insist she knows where something is hidden, but she has no idea what they are talking about. She initially tries to blow them off as pranks. Jasper witnesses her reaction when a particularly threatening message arrives and finally convinces her to tell him about it. Jasper's protective instincts kick in as he insists on helping her.

I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Kayla and Jasper. The attraction is there from the beginning, which frustrates Kayla. How can she be attracted to the man she considers her family's enemy? She copes by avoiding him whenever possible. For Jasper, Kayla is an employee and, therefore, off-limits. Kayla is reluctant when Jasper insists she moves into his house for her protection but gives in after another text. Jasper was sweet with his attempts to care for her, while Kayla's stubborn independence made her fight what she was afraid to accept. As she became more comfortable around him, her snappy comebacks to his comments were fun to see.

The more time they spent together, the stronger their attraction, and the deeper the feelings grew. I was slightly disappointed in Jasper's reluctance to expose his feelings to his family, especially since they all suspected the truth. Kayla knew the truth of her feelings but believed that Jasper wouldn't be interested in anything permanent with the daughter of a convict. I ached for Jasper when he planned a surprise for Kayla, and her stubborn pride took it the wrong way. It takes a little time apart and some self-examination for Kayla to realize that just because she can do things herself doesn't mean she has to. I loved the ending and seeing them look forward to a future together.

The suspense was excellent. The disturbing texts that turn threatening indicate that someone believes that Kayla has information the texter wants. You can feel her fear as the tone of the texts escalates. Once she involves Jasper, who in turn involves several of his siblings, the intensity builds. It doesn't take long to figure out that it has something to do with Kayla's father. Unexpected revelations expose a different side of her father and answer the question posed by the texter. There are a couple of intense confrontations and an unexpected twist to the ending. A sighting of the series' archenemy, Ronald Spence, adds another layer of strain to the story.

I loved seeing more of the Colton family and the progress of the previous relationships. The Thanksgiving and Christmas party get-togethers showcased the family's closeness, from teasing encounters to unquestioning support. There was a sweet scene between Colton matriarch Isa and the police chief that also had me laughing out loud at the family's reactions.

Terrific book. Travis stirred up his family at the end of the previous book, Colton's Killer Pursuit, when he announced that he'd hired Tatiana Davison as his co-CEO at Colton Plastics. He didn't know that her father is an accused serial killer that his law enforcement family members are desperate to capture. He has even more surprises ahead of him.

Sparks flew between Tatiana and Travis from the moment they met. After her successful interview, they celebrated with a little too much wine and wound up in bed together. The feelings she stirred up in him freaked Travis out, and he left as fast as he could afterward, planning to pretend it never happened. Tatiana would like nothing better, but she doesn't have that option. When she arrives for her first day of work, she also needs to tell Travis that she's pregnant. Though he immediately proposes, Tatiana turns him down flat. She's okay with being a single mom and won't marry without love.

I like Travis. He's a good man who has some unfortunate issues. He's the only member of his family not involved in law enforcement of some kind which leaves him feeling out of step. He has problems with his father, who always seems to expect the worst when Travis talks about his business. He also has significant trust issues thanks to a former girlfriend who lied to him about her feelings.

I also liked Tatiana. She is a smart, capable woman who became the CEO of the engineering side of Colton Plastics. I also ached for her. The police hound her for information about her father, the media won't leave her alone, and she has a stalker. She's torn between knowing that her father needs to be caught and not wanting to betray him. Finding out she's pregnant was a complication she didn't need, but she wouldn't change it for the world.

I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Travis and Tatiana. Travis does his best to avoid thinking about how Tatiana makes him feel but becomes very protective of her. This puts him at odds with his family, who don't trust her. When the stalking begins, Travis insists that Tatiana move in with him, which puts a strain on his need to bury his feelings. Tatiana feels safe with Travis, but she also feels guilty because she hasn't been completely honest with him. They grow closer the more time they spend together, and each of them has visions of what could be. However, when revealed, Tatiana's deceptions hurt and infuriate Travis, driving a wedge between them. It takes some advice from an unexpected source and nearly losing her to the stalker for Travis to admit his feelings and do something about it. His big moment at the end was sweet and romantic.

The suspense kept me hooked from beginning to end. I felt terrible for Tatiana, who was hit with a double whammy. First, she had to deal with the knowledge that her father is suspected of being a serial killer, released from jail because of the GGPD's rogue forensic scientist. Then she faced the horror of having a stalker who is obsessed with both Tatiana and her father. Glimpses into the mind of the stalker increased the tension as I waited to see what he'd do next. I loved how Travis figured out who it was and was on the edge of my seat as the final confrontation went down. There's a nice lead-in to the next book, as Tatiana's father and the missing forensics scientist remain at large.

Plenty of family drama also plays a part in this book. Travis walks a fine line between Tatiana and his family as his protectiveness butts up against their suspicions. That family dinner was challenging, and Travis's feelings of being on the outside were powerful. He also had his problems with his father to deal with. I ached for him and how he felt a lack of support. I liked seeing them finally talk and clear the air. When all is said and done, the Coltons always have each other's backs.
