Entertaining, accessible, this book will introduce you to a vast variety of poetic forms by the simple process of writing a poem in each of them. Great fun, and hugely informative.

This could so easily have turned into a sensationalist work: William and Dorothy Wordsworth, as brother and sister living together, have garnered a plethora of tittle tattle suggesting untoward relationships. Whilst this is touched upon, it far from dominates this book and we are, instead, treated to a detailed explanation as to how their relationship affected the literary output of the pair.

The book is littered with quotations to back up the author's treatise and the overall effect is that the Wordsworths come to life. I had thought of William as an old fashion, fuddy-duddy poet; now, I am eager to pick up a selection of his work: a biography can have little more successful an outcome!

An excellent book.
