Choix d’artistes, Institut Néerlandais, Parijs, 24… por Han Nefkens
Op uitnodiging van het 50-jarige Institut Néerlandais hebben Han Nefkens en Hilde Teerlinck (directeur van het FRAC Nord-Pas de Calais in Duinkerken) een tentoonstelling samengesteld waarin de banden tussen Nederlandse en Franse kunstenaars worden benadrukt. Nefkens en Teerlinck hebben voor Choix d’artistes aan zeven hedendaagse Nederlandse kunstenaars uit de H F Collection gevraagd om Franse kunstenaars uit te nodigen met wie zij een sterke affiniteit hebben.
A selection of Han Nefkens' columns for NRC and HIV Nieuws from 2004, published in book form to raise money for AIDS charities. Nefkens is a Dutch journalist and art collector (founder of the ArtAids foundation) who discovered in 1987 that he was HIV-positive.
The pieces in this book mostly deal with the contrast between his situation, as someone who has been kept alive by thousands of expensive pills over the years, and that of people with AIDS in developing countries, especially Thailand. He also talks about his experience of encephalitis, in particular about what it is like to go through a period of aphasia. The pieces are rather sober and measured in tone, but still often very moving.… (más)
