I inhaled this book like a big bag of Smartfood. Sort of a 21st century HItchhikers' Guide, but without the grounding in reality of an Arthur Dent, this is a glorious parody of ray-gun scifi, while actually being very amusing ray-gun scifi itself.

Underneath the ridiculous aliens, deus ex machinae and gratuitous tentacle sex, though, is a cogent examination of the role of war in fiction and myth. By taking the Shakespearean tropes of bitter rivals, star-crossed lovers and sneaky disguises and reducing them to the absurd, Morrissey both pays homage to and subverts these classic English literature concepts.

Or maybe I'm just trying to justify eating popcorn for dinner.… (más)
