Charles Clayton Morrison (1874–1966)

Charles Clayton Morrison was a Disciples of Christ preacher, editor, lecturer, and writer. Controversial in his own fellowship for his ecumenical views, he rose to national prominence when he bought the near-bankrupt journal The Christian Century and made it a leading voice of liberal Protestantism. In addition to his editorship of this journal for most of the first half of the 20th century, he was a noted anti-war activist and helped in the establishment of the World Council of Churches.
