A very interesting book with lots of potential. It however contained a few subject matters that I unfortunately am unable to read. A pity though since it was very promising.

Gary Morgenstein’s A Fastball For Freedom, the second book in the Dark Depths series, continues the dystopian story of a post-WWIII world. The book is well-written, but the devastation depicted was simply too raw and gritty for my taste, and the overarching Jihadist conflict was off-putting; however, I enjoyed the imaginative baseball aspects of the plot.

I really apologize. I did not realize this was book 2 in a series, when I requested it. I have tried reading it but really struggled. I've read several novels by Gary Morgenstein and really enjoyed them, but this on was so heavy with the jihad and similar language, I really had a hard time, especially since I hadn't read the first book. I plan to read the first book and then try again. but for now I can't finish it

In a dystopian future, America is run by Grandma. Baseball is in it's last season. And Puppy Nedick, baseball historian is almost out of a job. But things get turned a bit upside down when Puppy awakens to find Mickey Mantle in his living room, shortly followed by Ty Cobb and Mooshie Lopez. Suddenly the last season of baseball has some excitement. Grandma takes it upon herself to use baseball to launch the idea that they should FORGIVE the Arab nations for damages done to America in World War III. Who would think that all this would only lead into another War?

I wasn't particularly taken with this book. For a while I thought I was going to DNF it. It picked up though in the second half and became easier to read. It still wasn't my mind of book. I do not plan on reading further in this series.

*I received a copy of this book for free. The review is my own, honest and unsolicited.
