Sobre El Autor

The founder of the Unification Church bases his theology on a vision that he says he received on Easter Day 1936, in which it was revealed to him that he was divinely appointed to complete the mission of Christ that was cut short by his Crucifixion; that mission was to establish the Kingdom of God mostrar más on earth. After being ordained a Presbyterian minister, Rev. Moon began his mission in 1945 in North Korea, where he was born, but was soon arrested and imprisoned by Communist authorities. He came to regard the two-and-a-half years he spent in a labor camp as a Christlike indemnity for the sins of Adam and Eve and their descendants. Upon his release, he traveled to South Korea, where in 1954 he started his movement to establish a unified Christian church, according to his interpretation of the Bible and his special revelations. The movement spread to Japan in the late 1950s but did not have much success in the West until the late 1960s, when "Moonies," as adherents are commonly known, started appearing in significant numbers on the streets of American cities to solicit funds and to witness (proselytize). Rev. Moon himself came to the United States in the 1970s to lecture on his messianic teachings. He spent heavily for publicity, entertainment of public figures, and conferences designed to attract neutral scholars. Nevertheless, his movement remained controversial, especially for its intense methods of recruitment, arranged marriages, and alleged attempts to buy political influence. In 1982 Rev. Moon was convicted of income tax evasion and served a 13-month prison term in 1984--85. Hostility toward Rev. Moon was quite high during the 1970s and early 1980s but appears to have subsided somewhat since then as the Unification Church has attempted to become more mainstream. He remains the sole head of his church, which he characterizes as a "Unified Family." (Bowker Author Biography) mostrar menos

The book follows systematic theology in its structure: God's creation, the human fall, human redemption.

The book has two parts, with a total of 13 chapters. The first part deals primarily with theological concepts, such as the nature of God and His creation, the human fall, and others. The second part deals with the process through history by which God continues to work to eliminate the ill effects of the human fall, and restore humankind to the relationship with God that would have existed if the fall had not occurred.
