It's hard to separate your feelings about Winterreise-the-poems from your feelings about Schubert, of course (and in my case, my mum and my heritage--we went to a performance the other day and cried and hugged and she sang along under her breath and holy shit everyone hated us), but these are powerful, concise syllables dense with feeling in that good German Heine kind of way, and just rife with feeling, wild Northern Lights feeling like you're supercharged on feelings Adderall, wild love and loss and despair natürlich but also wild grotesquerie and even down to wild irony and yes, wild safety and wild calm.
