This is a massive book organized in a taxonomic way so that if you don't know the general class of mushroom you have, it can be difficult to use as a sight guide. That said, if you learn a little about the general categories of mushrooms, this book is helpful. Mushrooms are very difficult to sort out because they change so much and so quickly while fruiting. A mushroom on its first day looks very different than it does a week later and so when a picture was taken becomes very important. The photos in this book are decent, but sometimes unhelpful despite showing roots, gills and even cross sections. What I do like is the detailed information on the structure and physical properties of a species and it is useful to confirm an ID suspicion. Poisonous species are clearly indicated.… (más)
