Quick easy regency romance. I really enjoyed it despite the flaws. I liked the idea of the whole secret society of second sons - but it didn't really go into enough detail to satisfy my curiosity. To be fair - I haven't read any of the other books in the series - so perhaps reading in order makes it better - but otherwise it was just kind of vague and lacking depth. I did find the characters likable. Nora was pretty entertaining - particularly her reaction to finding the body. I really liked this passage.

“You’re not at all what I keep expecting.” “And what is it that you expect?” He stared at her. “I have no idea but not this.” He shook his head. “You didn’t faint at the sight of Mr. Charles. Most women would have.” “I’d suggest you wait for an opinion on that matter. I’m quite intoxicated at the moment and could very well faint by mid-day tomorrow.” Mr. Charles was her friend. It would take her a moment to understand she’d never see him again even in passing. She walked over to where Lucas stood. “You seemed rather calm and you were covered in his blood. Have you seen… death before?”

Meyers, Eleanor. The Son of A Soldier (Wardington Park) (A Regency Romance Book) . ShermanBrooks Publishers. Kindle Edition.
But she also had a tendency to slip into the TSTL category which I just found annoying. Lucas was pretty likable he was generally pleasant and friendly. Although his lack of trust of Nora was stupid. It was a little too much drama for me to care about.

But overall, quick easy read. Although I probably won't bother to pick up the others in the series. I don't really care for Warren's story and I have no idea who Morgan or Philomena are. Still, I'll keep an eye out for other releases by this author.

Imagine my surprise when I opened a book to read about a Lord of London and to find 3 different lords instead. In each of these 3 stories the lord meets the perfect lady for him but there are some issues. In the first story, Nathaniel Dawton is immediately attracted to Miss Amy Ott. Too bad that he propositions her instead of proposes. He predicts that she will fail in her first season, leaving him there to pick up the pieces. Instead, Amy becomes popular. When Nathaniel sees this, he does whatever it takes to make her his own.
The second story deals with his brother Andre Dawton, Marquis of Clariant and his semi-betrothed Catherine Croftman. Andrew and Catherine had met as children and he had promised that is she wasn't married by the time she was 25 he would marry her. It wouldn't have been a hardship since they truly loved each other. But, when Catherine is 15 and Andrew is 18, he sees her kissing someone else. It was an innocent goodbye kiss and the young man was heading off to meet Napoleon but Andrew couldn't get over what he saw. Now, Catherine's 25th birthday is fast approaching and she wonders if Andrew can get over his hurt to keep his promise. He says he doesn't want her yet he doesn't want any other man to have her. When it seems that she is being courted by the Earl of Cartridge he finally comes to his senses.
The final story has William, the Earl of Cartridge finding Catherine's sister Jane stealing a candlestick during a ball given by Nathaniel and Amy. He doesn't turn her in but he demands that she tell him what is going on. While trying to uncover her secret, he finds himslef compromising her and being force to marry. While he hadn't planned to fall in love, he is lost after their first kiss.
The three stories provide a sweet and clean Happily Ever After for all.

Skip the Prologue and start right in with the 1st chapter. This is the great story of Mr Joseph Croftman, rich gentry but not a peer, and Lady Christa Eaton, who was known for her mean and cutting remarks until she had spent some time in Europe. Christa and Joseph had grown up as neighbors and as a young girl she had made no secret of the fact that she was in love with Joseph. Now they are grown and the attraction is mutual.
Christa proves that she has changed but she has a secret. She is helping her friend June with a treasure hunt, a very dangerous endeavor. When Joseph finds out he tries to get her to stop but she has a mind of her own.
Working together to solve the mystery, the attraction grows and love blooms in the loveliest way possible. This clean, sweet romance is a delicious read and well worth the time.
