Bruce M. Metzger was the George L. Collard Professor of New Testament Language and Literature at Princeton Theological Seminary. One of the world's best-known scholars on the text of the New Testament, he wrote or edited more than thirty books and chaired the NRSV translation committee. He currently serves as Trustees' Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Greek at Ashland Theological Seminary. Great resource for a quick look up on things in matters of the Bible.
With the Apocrypha. An Ecumenical Study Bible completely revised and enlarged.
This is useful when you're trying to find a concise summary of, for example, the life of Jacob when you have lost track of some of the twists and turns described in Genesis. The entries are straightforward and unbiased, but it would be better if the book were a few hundred pages longer, so that the entries could be a bit more detailed.
