Very good and easy to read biography of on of the most successful and controversial admirals of WW2. Insightful with research sufficient to sustain his analysis of some very controversial Halsey decisions; at Leyte Gulf and during two typhoons. If you only have time to read one Halsey book, I would recommend this one by James Merrill.
