Biografía breve
Born and raised in the cotton patch of backwoods Georgia near the Satilla River. Attended elementary school at the great Satilla School where I learned to spit watermelon seeds, ride horses bareback and fish out stumpknockers when the river was oh so low! Attended schools in Georgia, taught over 5,000 students in high school and Georgia behavior change programs, write stories from my home at Pear Beach, near the river. I have a dog, Red Dog, cool cat named Sam, two sons, Bart, an artist in grad school at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins and Keith who can play and sing country music!

This is a story the author's father told her about his time as a paratrooper in World War II. The dark pictures of war alternate with sun-lit pictures of Papa's childhood as we trace the early adventures in his life that prepared him for the courageous deeds the war demanded.

The book is lovely and deeply felt. The language is that of a master storyteller. A definite keeper.
