Thomas McMahon was born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1943. He has an S.B. from Cornell University and a Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. McKay's Bees by Thomas McMahon is a novel of love, adventure and science which begins with a journey from Massachusetts to Kansas. The year is 1855, and the motivating force is Mckay's dream of building a city whose economic base is bee-culture.
"Real people (Presidents Pierce & Lincoln, Stephen Foster, Louis Agassiz, John Brown and others) appear. As many turns of the plot are dictated by the then-current events as by the human foibles of the fictional characters. The ending is simultaneously surprising and satisfying.… (más)
