This mini-graph came as a bit of a surprise. At fifty little 8.5 x 5.5 pages it's an exceptionally quick read. Unlike a traditional squadron in-action monographs there's a dearth of photographs and details that are of use to modelers. However, the text for the size of the monograph is phenomenal and made more important by the dearth of publications on the airplane.
Even though there are not a huge number of photographs, a fair number of them are rare and not commonly seen. Please be aware there are two photographs that have mistakes as far as location. The photograph claiming Brown Field was taken at North Island, the photo claiming Lindbergh Field is an unknown, but is not Lindbergh. (No hills, no cityscape, and the field elevation is wrong.)
This volume should be combined with Naval Fighter Volume Twenty-Eight to make the most of available publications on FR-1/XF2R-1
