Massimo il Confessore (0580–0662)

This book is a series of about 200 questions and answers regarding specific biblical interpretation (and a few concerning patristic theology, most frequently by Gregory of Nazianzus and Pseudo-Dionysus). Most of Maximus' answers are allegorical interpretations, which I found fascinating and spiritually interesting -- although often convoluted, disregarding the obvious literal interpretation. Each question and answer is between 1/2 page and two pages in length. This is a criticism of Maximus' writing, the translator is clear. (Note: I am a Presbyterian & Evangelical, with an M.A. in theology. I think the literal interpretation is best, and understanding socio-historical background is important.)… (más)
