What you're actually looking for in terms of information will condition whether this is the book for you on this aircraft, as one does have choices. If you're interested in operational history and color profiles, this is your first choice. However, if you're interested in the details of these aircraft, particularly in regards to model building, you might be happier with Przemyslaw Skulski's works from MMP/Stratus, with their extensive drawings and close-up pictures of existing examples of these machines. If you're patient, and aren't too concerned with price point, towards the end of this year Luigino Caliaro is bringing out a comprehensive study of Macchi fighter planes in World War II; if it's anything like his book on the S.79 Sparviero it'll be the book to own.… (más)
All in all I was very impressed with this survey of the "aerosiluranti" and I would probably read anything else this author winds up writing. If I have one caveat is that it seems quite clear that the air defense environment simply became too intense for these units to be successful and Mattioli could possibly have been a little more explicit about that.
