Arthur Mather

Set in Los Alamos in 1945 onwards this novel follows the development of the nuclear bomb and the conflict surrounding the effects it will have. One side wants to drop it on Japan to force their surrender and save American lives, the other wants to demonstrate it and/or not use it at all due to potential long term radiation effects.

It's a pretty run of the mill mass market paperback, honestly I wouldn't spend money on acquiring unless it's the last book available before a trans-atlantic flight or one leg of you coffee table is half an inch short.
