This book explains what electricity is and how is travels. The book includes many everyday examples that will help students to link the new information to their background knowledge. Science vocabulary that is used in this book is in bold, and is explained very well. The book is written in a way that is easy to understand, allowing students to focus on the science content and vocabulary, rather than stumbling on the text.
This book could be tied into a unit on electricity. It would be fun to look at some of the energy sources looked at in this book, such as batteries, and allow for kids to create a simple circuit using the batteries.… (más)

I would use this book as a mentor text because students can refer back to this book to know what electricity is and how we get electricity. This book would be good for first graders because they can understand the vocabulary being used, and the book is simple enough for them to understand what they need to know about electricity and power.
