The Cultural bond : sport, empire, society por J. A. Mangan
A scholarly series of essays on how sport kept the British Empire strong and British. Much of it touches on cricket, although other sports and pastimes get a mention. Certainly not for the casual reader but I found it useful in my (long ago) university studies.
