Excruciatingly dull. There is nothing more wise (when achieved) than moderation, nor (apparently) more boring than exhortations thereto. Macaro's prose is serviceable but her treatment of her subject somehow simultaneously superficial and plodding. And, despite Macaro's initial position, "We shouldn't just pick and choose from ancient wisdom," that's...exactly what she proceeds to do. It's okay, really, we all do it all the time. Some people would say it's arbitrarily picking and choosing that constitutes religion.

Two stars for Macro's initial chapters comparing and contrasting Buddhism and Stoicism. Ultimately disappointing; More than Happiness did not live up to its promises.

(Note to self: How did I give Holiday three stars when he's far more superficial than Macaro? Well, at least he writes engagingly.)
