An American Wife in Paris (The Diplomat's Wife #2), my second read from author Chrystyna Lucyk-Berger. World War 2 is in full swing and the action in this second book takes off as well. When Wild Bill Donovan & Allan Dulles make their appearance I knew things were going to heat up fast. “I received a free Kindle copy of The American Wife: Heart-wrenching and unputdownable World War 2 fiction (The Diplomat's Wife Book 1) back in April and recently The American Wife's Secret: Epic, heartbreaking and unputdownable World War 2 fiction (The Diplomat's Wife Book 3) and wanted to read the entire series so I got this one from Kindle Unlimited and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018.… (más)

The American Wife: Heart-wrenching and unputdownable World War 2 fiction (The Diplomat's Wife Book 1), my first read from author Chrystyna Lucyk-Berger. A book that makes you think. A story about the rise of the Third Reich and about standing on your principles and the values that guide your behaviour as a person.“I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author, next up An American Wife in Paris (The Diplomat's Wife #2). This book is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat right up till the end. Kitty Larson seems like such a lovely young lady with aspirations to become a foreign service officer. Perhaps you might say she achieves that goal - a life-changing portal, perhaps?

Dr. Edgar Ragatz belongs to the upper class, the elite, in Austria. His family is well positioned to move up in the new regime, once annexation has taken place. But what will he lose in the meantime?

An early copy was received through Bookouture and NetGalley. These impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.… (más)

Everything about showing love requires an act of courage. Absolutely everything. But loving yourself is perhaps the most heroic act a person can perform.

What an incredible story! The author takes a young lady, Magda, who has little self worth and turns her into a heroine. We are shaped by our circumstances, and marked by our choices. This statement and the one above describe her completely. Born with a scar that brought much ridicule growing up, it served to create a strong woman prepared to help those the world had marked as different.

A great deal of research was done by the author which takes the reader through the pain, the cold and the many dangers that the mountains thrust upon those who wanted to make a difference. I must admit there were moments I wondered if I would have been so courageous.

These comments and impressions are my own and I would highly recommend this book.
