What the fuck did I just read? This would make Jane Austen weep if she was still alive today. It was God awful and my brain is still processing what I just read.

"The Wrong Mr. Darcy" was too choppy at parts for my liking and didn't flow consistently. Moreso the sentences and most scenes ran into each other alongside the pov of the lead characters who were less impressive than most. It was like too much was happening all at the same time that it just became off putting. Like how much could happen in the span of 2-3 days? Plane delays because of rain, severe storms, unexpected pregnancies, and all around sports drama. About ¾ was unnecessary which includes the sex scene that was unexpected and would have been better if the author left an illusion that 'fun times' occurred. I was cringing throughout this Jane Austen inspired modern piece and needless to say, this missed the mark.

I’m totally ok with light adaptations, I don’t think veering far off the path of the original makes it a bad book. Even if it weren’t connected to Pride and Prejudice, I really wanted to like this book. I really like the set up, the character backgrounds work really really well and are super unique. There’s a lot good here, and some of the dialogue is actually really organic - even some of the miscommunication moments make sense without suspending your disbelief that much. But every time the main characters are called « the reporter » or « the basketball player » I want to cry. I also don’t love that Hera had no real friends aside from her parents and her boss. It’s a failing in the romance genre for sure. I also didn’t like that almost every female character was pretty stock, aside from Hera herself.… (más)

I got "The Wrong Mr. Darcy" through Netgalley for an honest review. For me, it was an OK book. This book is a sports romance that is the first of this sub-genre.
Sexual violence, abortion, and gun violence is never an easy topic, so please note there's quite a bit in here that may trigger others.
It's also a book that seems disjointed and off the mark, so if you enjoy the more free-flowing, fast-paced, and the edge of your seat kind of reads, there's none of that here.
While I was reading "The Wrong Mr. Darcy", I had some vibes of Sandra Bullock's movie, "The Blind Side" (Nov.2009) The film is one of my favorites
