In a remarkable coincidence, Matthew Logelin and I each lost a young wife, were left with a daughter named Madeline, and wrote a book about the experience. He and I are very different people but we both came to some very similar conclusions.

"It will make you cry, but not only out of sadness. Some of you tears will be for the beauty of love and its miraculous power to heal even the deepest of wounds." John Grogan, author of "Marley & Me". This quote exactly gets the essence of this lovely book. 5 stars because I really loved the book and would recommend it for reading, but Amazing? not sure. Certainly beautiful, sad, joyous, heartbreaking memoir of a young man's struggle and growth to be a new father after his wife's death 27 hours after she gave birth.… (más)

This picture book depicted all the different possible animals your dad could be instead of what he actually is (a human who takes care of you and loves you dearly). At first, the children think that they would be better off without their dad because he sometimes he yells at them or makes them do boring chores. But as they begin to fantasize about all the different animals who could possibly take his place, they soon realize several drawbacks their animal-parent would come with and how that would be way more embarrassing than just sticking with the regular old dad that they have already been given. The central message to this story is to make sure that you love and appreciate the dad (or guardian) that you have because they really do care about you and only want the best for you( even if they get on your nerves sometimes).… (más)
