This book is a collection of "tales from the front lines of genetic medicine". The author discusses what is possible and not possible with current genetic technology. He also discusses some of the ethical issues of this technology. This book is set out in a conversational tone describing case studies, with limited science or technical discussion. In short, interesting if you haven't read much on genetics, nothing new if you have.

An interesting and, at times, enlightening book on the state of genetic medicine in the US. This is accessible to the layman but ultimately does nothing to separate itself from the myriad other books on this topic.

A very fine companion to the new Siddhartha Mukherjee book on the Gene and in some ways a superior effort. Lipkin offers a very serious reading of what is happening and what is at stake in the dizzyingly replete world of medical genetics and offers both science and narrative to acutely reveal some of the juicier and dangerous aspects of his work. Highly recommended to anyone who can read and has a genome!

I probably do not possess the S. T. E. M. background to effectively praise this book, but I found it to be both informative and fascinating. If you, like me, are not "up" on latest advancements in genetics this book will certainly open both of your eyes. Even though it was a LT Early Reviewer copy, I put off reading it for too long. It was worth the effort when I finally did so.
