"You are entirely the opposite of everything that I am and I would gladly wear your shackles if it meant I could have you.”
"I bound my body and soul to you, little storm.”
"...books allowed me to live far, far away. Through a thousand different, exciting lives." (this couldn't be more true)

I LOVED this book. I simply could not put it down. I was obsessed! I got such intense reactions whilst reading! This is also the first time that I kind of hated the MMC for the FMC but that was how it was intended and I never imagined that would ever happen! I finally grew to love both of them though. I was utterly consumed in this story and I think that so many of us passionate readers can really connect with Ara and her desire for adventure yet uses books as an escape from the dullness of reality. I really resonated with her. And I was captivated with Rogue. And then I hated him... Then I was in love with him!
There is no map in the book, however, the author does have a map on her IG as it was created after printing. I've also posted it on my Tiktok account so you can find it there.

The Last Storm is in my top 10 of this year!

Characters
The characters were wonderfully written. I felt all that they felt! The betrayal of friends and family was devastating. The growing of unlikely relationships was moving. I especially liked the growth of Rogue. Who he was and who he became are two very different people on the outside. He was always who he was meant to be on the inside and I was so happy when he finally let it out. Ara struggled to come to terms with who she was and what her fate held. Going through that with her felt so real and raw. The spice in this book was as desired and it did not disappoint and now Rogue is my new book boyfriend!

Writing
As this is the debut novel for J.D., I know that the writing will get better and better as she goes. Yes, there were some gaps in the story, mainly like they would be in one place then all of a sudden they talk about them walking down the stairs and you didn't know they were on the move. This would help with the world building as well. This is the ONLY negative thing that I could find about this book. The rest of the writing was nothing short of wonderful. When a book can make me forget that I'm reading, you know it's good.

Plot
I loved this plot. It was not what I expected and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Not once did it bore me! And yes, there are beautiful plot twists that I did NOT see coming and I am still trying to recover from them. They had my feelings all over the place! And the last scene left on a very exciting cliffhanger. I am craving the next book so much!

Tropes:
Arranged marriage
Kidnapping
Fated mates
Enemies to lovers to Enemies to lovers

Ending Type: Cliffhanger

Below are my SPOILER thoughts and reactions:
[
72%: Ara's dad, mom (okay it wasn't her fault but she could have told her sooner...), and Finley are pricks. Ooh, the fae dude is her mate! I wonder if she is truly full human... Even though she's a prisoner, it's not all that bad. She's getting the adventure she wants, and she's taken care of. Holy shit! She's fae, or half, and Alden is her grandpa and she was named after her grandma! Her father was the king killed by Rogue's father. She loves storms for a reason... Wait, why is Alden helping her escape? Why didn't he tell her rogue already knows? That was one of the best mating bond claims ever! And holy shit it reversed her curse! She has MAGIC! Alden.... I'm beginning to not like you. I don't know why he's not more open with Rogue. I understand the book title now! This is the first time I've actually felt similar feelings as the FMC towards the MMC. Like I like him but I also don't. Spicy dreams?! Hell yeah! Omg Thana, how could you?? Oh Goddess he killed her mom.... well this just got confusing as Hell. Adon (Adonis) is a fae with manipulation abilities and manipulated Evander, the general, her dad, who killed her mom. Oh shit. What if that's the brother??
100%: I'm so glad they're finally together and she's accepted him! They better not fuck it up, i will be so pissed. I knew it!! I knew Adonis was his brother! Fuck this is complicated. And he has manipulation abilities and she can control energy, life force. He could control her... HOLY SHIT SHE CAN TRAVEL BY LIGHTENING! Omg.... he can shift. WTF I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW J.D.!!!!
