Potato tells the story of a family who struggled with employment during the Great Depression, and their challenging road to success. The story was written by an 8 year old girl about her family's history. So while the content may be lacking in detail, the story is described in a way that the target audience (5-10 year olds) can understand and relate to it. The Illustrations was simplistic and welcoming which made the story very enjoyable and lended itself well to the writing.

This book is about an event that happened during the great depression. The dad lost his job and could not find work. So the family moved to Idaho to pick potatoes. They brought the potatoes back home to sell and trade for things they needed. The dad soon find a job and move to Washington and then Hawaii. This book does not dipic the sadness what people went through and what happened during the great depression. The girl on the front cover is smiling. This book just does not give a true understanding of what life was like during the great depression.… (más)
