This book is not just packed with every type of pickle and relish recipe imaginable, it is very well written and entertaining. The history of pickling, including Heinz, varieties of vinegar, and farming and food lore from a bygone era are just a few topics which are a delight to read. Thinking about this book always makes me smile. The author was the creator of The Great Gildersleeve and wrote for Fibber McGee and Mollie.
