Kenny Leon

Kenny Leon is THE director of the August Wilson Pittsburgh Cycle, ten plays that cover every decade of the black experience starting in the 1900s, with such remarkable classics as Fences, Jitney, and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. This short autobiography is a loving tribute to his Grandma Mamie and his mother, who raised him with love and to always seek the truth while staying true to himself. There are many encounters with actors Samuel L. Jackson, Denzel, Phylicia Rashad, and Bill Nunn, and Leon entertainingly describes the trajectory of his ascent into theatrical greatness. But it's the vast appreciation he carries for his proper raising that shines through. A quick and enjoyable read.… (más)
