Good for a text set about legends. The artwork is well-done. Might be included with a lesson on astronomy and how such legends about the sky and moon come to be and what is the actual science behind them.

In this book, a Native American family camp out to see the full worm moon. This happens usually in march when the land thaws, and the worms come out creating holes in the ground which means it is time to begin planting! The parents in the family tell a story to explain the full worm moon. In the story the people become lazy because the worms do all the work. The sun then makes a deal with humans to share the work. The full Moon becomes a sign that the worms have finished their work, and that it is now the humans turn to do their part. I think this book is great for an older reader, it speaks of culture and productivity in the best way possible, and the water color illustrations only add the tone of this book.… (más)
