Biografía breve
Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Jena Leigh spent ten years in the mountains of North Carolina before returning home to the lightning capital of North America. A shameless geek, she loves bad sci-fi movies, Skittles, writing cracktastic e-mails to friends and taking shenanigan-filled road trips to faraway concerts. I thought this was a trilogy keep that in mind.
First book was great, second still pretty good then Redux.
... it took me three days to read first of all (I read usually two a day if I'm grooving) and I just kept thinking 'you can finish it, it's the last one, almost there' only it's not the last one, there's more!

I just don't know it's not that I dislike Alex it's just become so tedious... honestly the only way I'd read on is if there's some big twist and Jena Leigh manages to pull off where Alex falls out of 'love' with Declain and in 'love' with Nate (whom I've always liked a lot more then the little (sorry it's the adjective that describes him perfectly) prick that is 'Dex'… (más)

Revival is the first book in the Variant Series and Jena Leigh's debut novel. The main character is Alexandra Parker. She is, or I should say was, a typical teenager, was popular, had a boyfriend, and everything seemed to be going great until the day she caught her boyfriend with another girl in the computer lab, which resulted in her somehow blowing up everything electronic in the room, an event that left her scarred both emotionally and physically. Now she is just a freak, or at least that is the way she feels. When her best friend Cassie talks her into spending the day out on the town, she notices a strange hottie that seems to be everywhere they go. Then the same hottie ends up saving her from a burning bookstore, and Alex finds herself in a place and a part of a world she never knew existed. Alex discovers she is a Variant, someone with supernatural abilities, and apparently so are quite a few more of her "new found friends." She can't decide if that makes her more of a freak of not, but nevertheless, she has to come to terms with what she is, the lies she has been told all her life, the fact that someone is trying to capture her and is threatening not only her, but her friends, and then there is the hottie that drives her nuts, but she can't quit thinking about him. Caught up in a world where people have superhuman powers and dangerous agendas, Alex soon finds herself in the middle of more excitement, danger, and drama than she ever bargained for.

I really enjoyed Revival. I loved Alex's character. Not only was she funny, she was loyal, pretty tough despite the circumstances, and she winds up being a pretty kick-ass heroine. Declan was by far my favorite of the guys in the book. He is too hot for his own good, he's cocky and very sure of himself, but he also is very loyal and fierce when it comes to those he cares about. He has some issues regarding Alex and the past that he is working through also. There were quite a few other secondary characters that were also fun to get to know. Nate is the other hottie in the picture. He is rather quite, extremely handsome, but he's got a big secret that we only get a glimpse of, and I can't wait to find out more about that. Cassie is Alex's best friend and I just loved her. She is snarky, funny, and doesn't take crap from anyone, superpowers or not. Revival was fast paced and kept my attention from beginning to end. There is romance in the book. It isn't the main focus of the book, but there is just enough of it there to make it good. Actually, I hope to see more of it in the next installment, and I am really rooting for Declan and Alex to get together. Overall, Revival has plenty of action-packed scenes, along with drama, some funny moments, some romantic moments, and then there is the paranormal aspect, which makes the book an overall fun and enjoyable read. Jena Leigh has done a great job writing her debut novel and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see where she takes the characters from here.
