Set in WA in the 1960's this story covers a part of Australian history that we may like to forget. Sandy has moved to Wa with her family because her dad a policeman has been tranferred . She is having trouble fitting in until she meets Billy a part Aboriginal and a mechanic. However her sisterbecomes her rival. Set around a time of change Aboriginal discrimination, feminism, Women's rights, the pill, mini-skirts, Anti Vietnam protests etc. Fits in well as another read To kill a Mockingbird.

Despite the fact it wasn't the thriller I had been expecting, Obsession was a good read. Written in diary form, it tells the story of a very troubled young girl who has trouble coping with her life and family and finally latches onto another girl as her salvation. While I wouldn't read this again, I would definitely recommend reading it once.
