Spiritually evolved humans live on Ekata. They have individual powers, such as telekinesis and empathy. The main character, Asher, is an empath. As the book progresses, Asher becomes more spiritually evolved and develops additional powers. Although I don't want to provide too many details so as to avoid spoilers, Asher could take on an Army of Superman characters and would likely prevail over all!

Another main character, Alexis, is introduced once action moves from Ekata to Earth. Earth is suffering and is controlled by Verdell, father to Alexis. Verdell is evil personified even though he spouts off nonsense about using a "war to end all wars" in order to heal Earth and bring peace to the planet. Verdell is searching for Alexis in order to help achieve his domination of Earth and Ekata. Asher reaches Alexis before Verdell does, explains to this 17 year old Earth girl about the Ekata prophecy that the two of them are to save the worlds, and whisks Alexis back to Ekata.

Once Alexis and Asher are back on Ekata, their training begins in order to fight Verdell's war and to hopefully bring peace back to Ekata and to restore Earth.

This is a book of good versus evil. It's constantly full of action. Sometimes I felt as though I needed a break and could have used a little more spirituality or world building.

And how could I forget to mention unicorns? Yes, there are unicorns, so yay for me!

I'm looking forward to Book 2 of the series. I rate this as a 3.5 but rounded up to 4 because of unicorns. Yes, I'm a real sucker for unicorns.
