Matilda is a very unique and quirky character and I enjoyed being inside her head. It was fun seeing the extremely organized person having to face unexpected and unplanned messes and learning to eat with them. Amy and Evie are well written characters and I enjoyed their friendship dynamic with Tilly. Even though Silas has this convoluted plan to win back his ex, he is still charming and cool. I definitely understood the development of a friendship between Tilly and Silas but I just couldn’t get invested in their romance. I really didn’t see the chemistry.
But I did finish this book in a single sitting and it was fun. It’s written in a very entertaining way that keeps you hooked till the end even if you can guess what’s coming.

If you are looking to read a thoroughly enjoyable chick lit tale on a cold winter's day, then look no further, Peri In Progress by author Cat Lavoie is the book for you!

When Peri McKenna turns thirty-one, she realizes that it is time to take control and make some changes in her life, a time for a new and improved Peri! Seriously, who hasn't wanted a do over at some point in their life! So Peri makes a list of changes she wants to make: eat healthier and cut out junk food, get more exercise, make repairs to her crumbling home, and have a mature romantic relationship. But with changes comes obstacles and stumbles along the way: her clandestine relationship with co-worker Declan Perry causes problems at work, she still craves junk food, and oh yeah ... she develops a crush on her best friend Elsa's older brother, chef Milo Preston. So what's a girl to do when she is a work in progress?

Oh my goodness! Author Cat Lavoie sure does know how to weave a delightful chick lit tale that easily keeps the reader engaged and in stitches. Set in Messina, Connecticut and told in the first person narrative, Peri McKenna takes the reader along for the ride as she embarks on a journey of personal self-transformation. There is something about Peri that is so relatable, she is sassy and determined to make the necessary life changes, you can't help but cheer her on. This is a lighthearted fun story that has a nice amount of wit and humor while describing Peri's personal journey, her awesome relationship with best friend Elsa, and an unexpected but complicated romance that will put a smile on the reader's face.

Peri In Progress is a poignant and entertaining story, it is a wonderful example of a chick lit tale at its very best!

A highly entertaining and enjoyable debut novel; I was cheering for food-loving Roxy every step of the way. The dynamic between the heroine and her sisters is a central theme of the book and the family roles are highly plausbile. Supporting characters, such as feisty friend Tali and the mother-in-law-to-be are excellent, too.

Cat Lavoie's writing is smooth yet witty, and as you approach the final third of the story, there are some wonderful plot twists which took me absolutely by surprise. Excellent job.… (más)

It's been over a year since Zoey Everwood's ex-boyfriend Braden broke up with her, but she can't seem to let him go ... in fact she has a stalker like obsession with him! When her obsession goes way overboard, Zoey's family and friends convince her to go away to the Moment of Zen Wellness Resort in Mexico, in the hope that she can put Braden and her obsession with him behind her, and move forward with her life. But for Zoey, getting in touch with her inner zen isn't the only thing she finds at the resort, she comes home with Shane Lawson, a Braden look-alike as her new husband!

Zoey & The Moment Of Zen is a thoroughly entertaining chick lit story that will keep the reader laughing-out-loud! In her second novel, author Cat Lavoie weaves a fun tale that follows Zoey Everwood's journey filled with zany antics, hilarious trials and tribulations, and well-meaning lapses in judgement. It's so easy to get drawn into Zoey's story: the humor, drama, and poignancy wraps itself around the reader and holds them captive until the surprising conclusion.

Zoey is a sassy, flawed, and realistic character who is likable and easy to relate to. You can't help but feel for Zoey as she struggles with her obsession with her ex-boyfriend and the realities of romance and marriage, and hope it all works out well for her in the end. With a engaging cast of secondary characters; witty dialogue and humorous interactions; a richly detailed description of the settings; and a storyline full of drama filled romantic twist and turns; Zoey & The Moment Of Zen is an enjoyable and perfect chick lit story to escape into on a long cold winter's day!
