The complete title of this book serves as an adequate explanation of the topic covered, as the author examines the pressures (slaving, expropriation of land and general disrespect) that drove the Iroquois-speaking Tuscarora Nation to war with the European colonists, leading to the breaking of both the First Nations in the east of North Carolina and the breaking of the hold of the absentee proprietors of the colony. I might also note that the author intends this to be group portrait of the leadership class of North Carolina at the time (both White and First Nations).… (más)

A devastating account of what happened to native American treasures during the Great Depression as they were looted by “prospectors” trying to make a buck rather than preserving the archaeological and anthropological integrity of these incredible Oklahoma sites…we’ll never know what was lost to us forever because of this desecration …
