Counterfactual history in a lighter vein, as opposed to the very serious works edited by Ferguson (1997) and Tetlock (2010). This book is a collection of stories by notable sci-fi writiers, stories based on alternative versions of history. Silverberg's contribution, for example, considers an powerful African empire that might have arisen, had the Black Death killed off even more Europeans than it did.
